Playing Temur in Commander
Temur is the color trio of elemental force and unbounded creativity. Green ramps into enormous threats; red provides haste and copying effects; blue provides card draw and protection. Temur decks are about doing big, splashy things — casting huge spells, taking extra turns, copying everything, and overwhelming opponents with sheer scale.
Temur archetypes include lands-matter (Omnath and similar commanders care about landfall across all three colors), big-mana combo (generate infinite mana, draw your deck), spellslinger (copy your best spells with red and blue), elemental tribal, and cascade/chaos strategies. Temur commanders often enable degenerate mana or spell recursion — Maelstrom Wanderer cascades twice, Animar reduces creature costs to zero, and Omnath converts landfall into damage.
Temur's strength is explosive potential. No other color trio can go from a reasonable board state to winning the game in a single turn as dramatically. Blue draws into the pieces, green provides the mana, and red provides the haste to capitalize immediately. The weakness is creature removal — green fights, blue bounces, and red deals damage, but none of these is as clean as white's exile or black's destroy effects. Temur often races past problems rather than answering them, which works until it doesn't.
