Playing Jund in Commander
Jund is the color trio of value, aggression, and grinding advantage. Black sacrifices for profit; red provides speed and treasure; green ramps and recurs. Together they build midrange machines that generate more value per card than the rest of the table — every creature that dies triggers something, every land that enters does something, and every sacrifice feeds the engine.
Jund archetypes include sacrifice/aristocrats (the three-color apex of the archetype), lands-matter (Windgrace and Lord Windgrace leverage all three colors' land synergies), dragon tribal, -1/-1 counters, and treasure-based strategies. Jund commanders tend to be value engines that reward you for doing things you already want to do — playing lands, sacrificing creatures, dealing damage.
Jund's strength is midrange dominance. You have the best removal suite (black + green covers everything), the best recursion (graveyard access in all three colors), and enough speed from red to not fall behind. The weakness is the lack of blue — no counterspells, no card draw at blue's level, and no stack interaction. Jund deals with problems after they resolve, not before. Against combo decks, you need to either race them or pack targeted discard and removal to break up their pieces before they assemble.
